Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted bacterial infection that, if untreated, may cause infertility. Gonorrhea most often affects the urethra, rectum or throat. In females, gonorrhea can also infect the cervix. Gonorrhea is most commonly spread during vaginal, oral or anal sex.
