Trauma

Trauma remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly among young adults. Recent advancements in trauma care emphasize rapid assessment, damage control resuscitation, and early intervention during the “golden hour.” Prehospital trauma systems now integrate advanced airway management, hemorrhage control techniques such as tourniquets and hemostatic dressings, and early activation of trauma teams to improve survival.

In-hospital trauma management is increasingly guided by whole-body CT imaging, permissive hypotension in bleeding patients, and massive transfusion protocols with balanced blood component ratios. Point-of-care ultrasound (eFAST) is routinely used for rapid assessment of internal bleeding. Trauma surgeons are also adopting minimally invasive techniques for select injuries, reducing recovery time and complications. Additionally, there is growing focus on post-trauma care, including rehabilitation and psychological support, to improve long-term outcomes. Multidisciplinary coordination remains vital to optimizing trauma care from prehospital to definitive treatment.
