Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural emotional response to perceived threats or stress, characterized by feelings of worry, fear, and unease. While occasional anxiety is a normal part of life, chronic or excessive anxiety may indicate an anxiety disorder. These disorders include generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, and others. Symptoms can be both psychological (e.g., restlessness, irritability, concentration difficulties) and physical (e.g., rapid heartbeat, muscle tension, shortness of breath).

The causes of anxiety disorders are multifactorial, involving genetic predispositions, environmental stressors, brain chemistry, and life experiences. Treatment typically includes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based approaches, and medications like SSRIs or benzodiazepines. Left untreated, anxiety can impair daily functioning, relationships, and overall well-being. Awareness and early intervention are critical. Increasingly, digital tools such as mobile apps and virtual therapy platforms are being used to support anxiety management and provide accessible care.
